I Planned a Wedding For Bachelor Pilot Peter
If you do not know who “Pilot Peter” is, you probably not a reality TV lover and you are probably are very free on Monday nights. Peter, who also happens to be a pilot (yay for alliteration!) is the new star of the hit TV show “The Bachelor” and is on his journey to find love and find someone who is: there for the right reasons/ vulnerable/ walls down/ enter all other bachelor lingo here. As you know, the whole purpose of this whole show is to fall in love, get engaged, and eventually.. you guessed it, GET MARRIED!
So why would I plan a hypothetical wedding for Pilot Peter? No, I am not hoping he one day sees this and hires me to be his planner (although that would be awesome, think about all the IG followers), but I wanted to show you how to incorporate personal details into your wedding design to make your wedding uniquely yours.. or in this case uniquely Peter’s!
Gathering information
So here is what we know about Peter so far:
-this one is obvious, he is a pilot
-another obvious one, he is the bachelor
-he enjoys windmills (if you’ve watched the show, you will understand)
-he is born and raised in California
-he enjoys cooking Cuban dishes (his mother is Cuban)
-and that is pretty much all I could read about Peter from the ABC website…
The Wedding Design
Knowing all we know about Peter, there are so many ways to incorporate these fun facts into meaningful details for his wedding! (and for the record, I hope it is to Madison, because that is who I chose to win my bracket, in case anyone was wondering).
What better place for Pilot Peter to feel at home while saying “I Do” than an airplane hangar? Airplane hangars weirdly make very great wedding venues- it is basically a wide open space where you can create the wedding of your dreams, a total blank slate! And you will need all that room to fit in the TV Crews…duh! An Airplane hangar is a no brainer.

It goes without saying that you can’t have a bachelor wedding without the signature red rose. These greenery arrangements with pink flowers and pops of that bachelor red rose are the perfect vibrant touch to bring life to a big space like an airplane hangar! A little touch of red can go a long way!

If you have ever seen the Bachelor before, then you know the phrase “Will you accept this rose?”. Well for Bachelor Peter’s wedding, I would have an escort wall display of glasses filled with… ROSÉ!!! adorned with tags that have the guest’s name and table assignment. And for the top of the display? Custom signage with the words “Will you accept this Rosé?” I mean who wouldn’t wanted to be greeted with a glass of Rosé at a wedding?!

Assuming we are working with a big ABC production budget for this wedding, I would do personalized luggage tags for the place cards! Place cards are another perfect and small way to bring in a personal touch! This would of course be a nod to Peter’s aviation background and something guests can take home with them. These leather luggage tags with the guest’s names engraved would look so chic wrapped around each napkin of Peter’s start-studded wedding!

Want to know why signature cocktails are such a good way to incorporate personal details?? Because you can name them anything! So guess what, this Elderflower Gin & Tonic just became “The Windmill.” I would order custom bar signage with an illustration of a windmill, the title of the drink and the list of ingredients! (and a note of a 4 drink max… again another nod to the show hehe) And to top it off, I would include laser cut acrylic drink stirrers in the shape of a windmill for each drink!

A wedding trend I have seen gaining popularity over the past few years is having a cigar roller at the wedding. It is a fun interactive element to have, and once again, guests can take it home as a favor! This cuban cigar bar would be perfect for Peter’s wedding since his mom’s side of the family is Cuban!

Now obviously there are many more elements that go into a wedding, but you get the gist of it at this point! It can be so simple to implement personal details into your wedding day to make it special to you! Most brides are afraid of making something too ‘themed’ or ‘kitschy’ but choosing small elements that can tie into your love story actually adds a level of detail and design that will impress your guests! You are probably not a pilot or the Bachelor, but I know there are many interesting things about you and your fiance that guests would love to see/hear/learn/taste/etc. at your wedding! As a starting off point answer these questions:
What is your favorite food/restaurant/music/etc?
How did you meet?
Where did you go on your first date?
How did your fiance propose?
What is something you love to do together?
After you answer these questions, you will have all you need to start customizing your wedding!
