Creating Memorable Moments on your Wedding Day
As a bride, you have definitely heard this advice before “soak it all in, it goes by so fast!” And it’s true! Your wedding day will be filled with friends, loved ones, photos, dancing, mingling, etc. and you want to be in the moment for all of it. However, one thing every couple should do on their wedding day, is take some time to be ‘out of the moment.’ Whether it is 30 seconds or 15 minutes, take step back to realize the weight of the day and to truly appreciate everything that is going on. Here are some ways to work those moments into your wedding day schedule!
Putting on your dress:
This special moment where you transform into a bride should be one that is remembered. Have everyone completely step out of the room (bridesmaids, photographer, hair and makeup artist) and only have the one or two people who will be helping you put on your dress in the room. Take a second, look at yourself in the mirror, and admire how beautiful of a bride you are! After this you can invite everyone back in to celebrate with you, but make sure you have that quiet moment before all the chaos of the day escalates.
The Ride to the Ceremony:
If your ceremony is in a separate location than your reception, consider taking a separate car than the rest of your wedding party/family. Either go with a parent, maid of honor, or even your fiance (if you already did a first look) and enjoy that quick car ride as some quiet alone time before you say your “I Do’s”
Reception room reveal:
It is no secret that I LOVE a room reveal. You and your fiance planned for months for your perfect day, you deserve to see all of your hard work in its entirety and before all your guests fill the space. Have your photographer take a quick 5 minute photo session of you and your new hubby in the middle of your empty dance floor!
Private meal:
This is another one of my favorite moments for couples, and one I recommend for many reasons. During cocktail hour, before entering the reception, have your caterer or wedding planner set up a private meal in a separate room of your venue- this could be the bridal suite, a front office, etc. Take 10 minutes, to sit, enjoy the food, sip on your drink, and enjoy that just married glow! Once your fed and refreshed, you will be ready to enter the reception and dance the night away with your loved ones!
Private last dance:
A private last dance is the perfect time to take one last moment to soak in your wedding day before it is all over! When your guests are lining up outside for your exit, have your DJ or Band play your favorite song and dance in the middle of the dance floor, just the two of you!
