The Do's and Don'ts of Wedding Dress Shopping

Your wedding dress is probably one aspect of your wedding you have been dreaming of since you were a little girls, and understandably so! Endless episodes of Say Yes to the Dress have trained us to think we are all wedding dress experts, yelling at the girl on the TV to go for the sweetheart A-Line instead of the bedazzled drop waist!!… or is that just me? Regardless, here are some crucial dos and don’ts to prepare you for finding that perfect dress!

Do’s:

Do your homework and be prepared with a few inspiration images

Set a budget- and stick to it!

Go into it with an open mind and trust that your stylist might know what looks best on your body!

Bring a pair of shoes similar to the one’s you will wear on the wedding day-whether that be your flats or your stilettos

Properly prep for your appointment- don’t eat too much right before and don’t wear too much makeup (think of the smudges on all those white dresses!)

Dont’s:

Don’t procrastinate! Give yourself ample time to find a dress, have it delivered, and get it altered

Don’t try on the dress that is 3x your budget, even if it’s '“just for fun”

Don’t bring a big entourage with you, keep it small

Don’t buy a dress in a smaller size as motivation to lose weight!

Don’t try saving money by buying your dress online
